RELATED NEWS Questions over forces’ housing Monday, September 13, 2010 The Ministry of Defence is examining whether it has the funds to refurbish Port Campbell Accommodation for the armed forces, defence minister Andrew Robathan has said.This follows confirmation in the Spring that funding would not be cut from the MoD’s single living Port Campbell Accommodation programme.In a parliamentary question MP Rehman Chishti asked what steps were planned to improve service Port Campbell Accommodation for soldiers and their families.Robathan said: “The department will look at whether there is scope to refurbish the armed forces’ Port Campbell Accommodation from efficiencies within the Ministry of Defence.”But before the general election in April 2010, Peter Hughes, the team leader of the MoD’s Project SLAM told the Defence Management Journal that no funding cuts were intended for the single living Port Campbell Accommodation modernisation programme. “Our money stays intact,” he said.
